We all know that the Cape May County Zoo is a popular place, but just how popular is it?

If you're like me, you visit the zoo quite often. And when you go there in the summer, especially on a weekend, sometimes the crowds are insane (I've had to park out at that baseball field on Crest Haven Road between the Parkway and Route 9 on more than one occasion).

Of course, that zoo is amazing on so many different levels. The variety of animals is incredible, the food and drinks are very reasonable, and the best part: it's free.

We all know they could easily charge an admission fee to enter, or even a parking fee -- and we'd probably all pay it -- but this incredible facility is absolutely free (donations are gladly accepted).

How Many People Visit the Cape May County Zoo?

According to Cape May County government officials, a staggering 750,000 people visited the zoo in 2025.

We continue to invest in visitor-friendly improvements and exciting new amenities at our world-famous Zoo. Decades-long investments have made our Zoo one of the leading attractions and top-ranked zoos in America. -Cape May County

To put that into perspective, the zoo is open almost every day of the year, which means you’re looking at about 2,000 visitors a day on average (and we all know summer weekends blow that number out of the water).

If you want to compare it to other zoos in the area, the Philadelphia Zoo (which is certainly not free) sees about 1.3 million people per year, so it's not too far behind (and you don't have to deal with the Schuylkill Expressway).

I wasn't able to find any yearly attendance statistics, so I don't know if that 750,000 number is an increase or a decrease compared to previous years, but either way, it's pretty darn impressive.
