Shooting Reported on Rowan Boulevard
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, just after midnight on June 30th, Glassboro police officers were clearing a large crowd from the area of Rowan Boulevard when a shooting occurred within the crowd.
Officers located a victim, who had been shot in the pelvis, in the area of Redmond Avenue and Rowan Boulevard. That person was taken to Cooper Hospital where they remain in stable condition.
Cops located a vehicle parked in front of 220 Rowan Boulevard and they allegedly saw a 9mm semi-automatic handgun without a serial number between the curb and the open front passenger door of that vehicle. A discharged 9mm shell casing was also located nearby in the street.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and police say they found a wallet on the front passenger seat, which "contained multiple items bearing Lavonta Moore's name."
Surveillance Footage Reveals Details
Authorities say,
Surveillance footage and officers' body-worn cameras from the area showed that four subjects, including the victim, walked past Moore and two other individuals who were with Moore. The video showed Moore standing in the open front passenger doorway of the vehicle near where the gun was eventually recovered. The victim's group and Moore's group appeared to get into a verbal altercation followed by fight. As the fight began, Moore reached into the area of the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Moore then raised his arm, pointed a handgun towards the victim, and fired one round.
Moore then allegedly placed the gun on the ground near the open door of the front passenger seat, where it was later recovered by police. Moore then fled the area on foot.
Moore has been lodged in the Salem County jail pending a detention hearing; he is scheduled to make a court appearance on July 12th.
