As residents of Collings Lakes worked to fix damage to their homes on Monday, the National Weather Service released its official report on Friday's tornado.

After analyzing the storm damage, the weather service was able to determine that the tornado originated in Williamstown and then traveled 8.5 miles to Collings Lakes, where the first damage was noticed on Friday.

Also added was information that the storm formed a brief gustnado in Franklinville, where peak winds reached 100-105 mph.

According to NOAA, a gustnado is a small whirlwind that forms as an eddy in thunderstorm outflows. They do not connect with any cloud-based rotation and are not tornadoes.

Timeline of Tornado

At 12:42 pm Friday, the tornado peeled the siding off a house and knocked a large tree over in Willamstown, then crossed the street and snapped the trunks of several more trees.

The tornado crossed West Malaga Road and, as it neared the Victory Lakes community, it damaged a wooden fence and several tree branches.

The National Weather Service says the Franklinville gustnado was detected at 12:50 pm Friday. A video was found that showed a brief gustnado snapped the trunks of several trees.

At 12:53 pm, as the tornado came up to the intersection of E. Piney Hollow Road and the Black Horse Pike, the tornado made its entrance in Collings Lakes, snapping a telephone pole.

The tornado damaged homes with fallen trees in the Collings Lakes section of Buena Vista Township.

The forceful winds of up to 75 miles per hour had debris scattered on the street, took down power lines, and uprooted trees.

The path of the storm was 300 feet, and it was on the ground for 8.5 miles.

The original report this weekend had the tornado at an EF-0, but with additional information, it was upgraded on Monday to EF-1, with wind speeds between 86 to 110 mph.
