Prom season is coming, and LITE 96.9 is on a mission to help South Jersey teens in need find their perfect prom dress at no cost with Project Prom AC 2026!

But first, we need your help.

If you have a prom dress sitting in your closet, let it be worn again and make a difference.

We are collecting gently used prom dresses in all sizes, especially in large sizes, shoes, and accessories.

Since 2014, Project Prom has been a beacon of hope for local girls facing financial constraints by providing them with complimentary prom dresses, jewelry, shoes, and accessories.

As the chair and co-founder of the event, Rene Kane, says, “It’s more than just a dress—it’s a symbol of empowerment and confidence.”

These young women deserve to feel beautiful, and the goal is to have everyone walk out the doors with the biggest smile. The most important part is that they can feel this way for FREE.

Project Prom wants to make this a “say yes to the dress” experience for all women coming in.

Prom Dress Collections

Last year, Project Prom gave away 500 dresses. Girls traveled from all over New Jersey looking for their perfect prom dresses

This is such a great opportunity for families who may not be able to afford to buy their teenager a prom dress, or for those who just don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress they may only wear once.
Project Prom AC appreciates all donations and help. If you have any dress, shoe, or accessory donations, they are now being accepted at the following locations.

All sizes are welcome.

The deadline for donations is Sunday, March 1st.

  • Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, 9218 Ventnor Avenue, Margate
  • JCC of Margate, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate
  • Esthetica Salon, 1205 Tilton Road, Northfield
  • LITE 96.9's studios, 950 Tilton Road, Northfield, (Mon-Thurs. 9 am - 5 pm)

Prom Dress Distribution

The prom dress distribution will be held in the upstairs showroom at Kensington Furniture, 200 Tilton Road,  Northfield.

Here is the schedule for dress distribution:

- Saturday, March 14th, from 10 am - 4 pm

-  Sunday, March 15th, from 11 am - 4 pm

Volunteer Help is Needed

Project Prom also needs all hands on deck.

Last year, Project Prom had about 70 volunteers helping customers pick out their perfect dresses. If you are unable to attend the event, Project Prom appreciates volunteers who can help sort the dresses.
