The Popcorn Park Zoo Animal Refuge is probably one of the more unique attractions near the Jersey Shore. All of the animals at the zoo are rescues, and the park relies heavily on donations in order to feed, house, and care for the animals. If you've never been to Popcorn Park Zoo, you're missing out.

They host events throughout the year, and you can get a really up close and personal look at some really amazing animals, like lions, tigers, and bears... oh my. They've got a reptile exhibit, peacocks that roam the grounds of the zoo, and it's just a fun educational experience.

Popcorn Park Animal Refuge Is Going Through A Rough Patch Right Now

However, Popcorn Park Zoo is going through a tough time right now, for two reasons.

Firstly, Popcorn Park Zoo suffered some severe damage during the last couple of winter storms we had.

You Can Help Popcorn Park Rebuild From Storm Damages

A lot of trees crashed down on animal habitats, fences, and other structures, causing a lot of damage, and of course, financial strain as the zoo works to make repairs while still caring for these animals. You can donate to help with the Popcorn Park Zoo repairs right here.

And then, sadly, more tragedy struck the Popcorn Park Animal Refuge with the passing of one of their beloved animals.

Maryanne The Bear Has Passed Away At Popcorn Park Animal Refuge

Maryanne the Bear was a favorite at the park; she was playful, curious, and a gentle giant who was very much loved.

Maryanne will be greatly missed.

Popcorn Park Animal Refuge really is a one-of-a-kind place in Jersey, located at 1 Humane Way in Forked River. If you've never taken the time to visit, make sure you put it on the to-do list this year.
