The final "Player of the Week" contest of the 2022-23 boys basketball season is a super-sized list of the best formers from the Shore Conference during the state tournament. Below is a ranked-order list of the 50 Shore Conference players who turned in the best performances in the state tournament for the time their teams lasted, taking into a account stats, team success, quality of opponent and overall context.

For instance, not only to Point Pleasant Boro's Stephen Mellett put up great numbers in two state tournament games, but his 26 points in a round-one win over Spotswood came in his first game back after missing two weeks due to injury.

Another example: Connor Howard (St. John Vianney) and Nick Valentino (Red Bank) both only lasted one round, but each of them scored 27 points against a team that made it to a group championship game -- with Howard doing it against the Non-Public A champion. Both get some extra imaginary points for performing well against a top opponent.

At the bottom of the list is an opportunity to vote for one of 10 honorees, with a couple of stipulations: 1) only one player per team to avoid unfair vote-splitting (apologies to Dylan Csik, Ryan Fraueneheim and most of the St. Rose contingent); and 2) no players who have won the award already this season (apologies again to Frauenheim, Alex Frank and Jaycen Santucci). All of those players placed high on the list and should be applauded for their performances over the last two weeks, but the last $25 gift card to Burger 25 in Toms River will go to one of the 10 at the bottom of the page.

Vote once per hour through 10 p.m. on Wednesday, when the poll closes, and check back on Thursday to find out the winner.
