Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are heading back to the UK — and after years of keeping their distance from royal life, the move is raising plenty of questions.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return at the end of August for an “extended period” with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

The palace was reportedly informed of the move, but the reason behind the Sussexes' decision may be more personal than royal.

According to Page Six, King Charles III was only informed of the move on Sunday (August 16).

“I know that [Charles is the reason] they are moving back,” one insider told the outlet.

The 77-year-old monarch was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and has since shared several positive updates about his health. Buckingham Palace said last year that he had responded “exceptionally well” to treatment, though he was not technically considered in remission.

Another source said Charles “looks forward” to spending more time with Harry, Meghan and their children in a personal capacity.

But don't expect the Sussexes to suddenly resume royal duties.

The couple will remain private, non-working members of the royal family and are expected to live in a non-royal residence while continuing their business ventures.

Harry and Meghan famously stepped back as senior working royals in 2020 and moved to the US, later settling in California.
