It’s Fastnacht Day-I’ll Tell You All About It
It's Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras kicks off, but in Pennsylvania where I grew up it's all about donut day...Fastnacht Day, a huge Pennsylvania Dutch tradition.

I remember first bringing it up to Shawn on the air and he had no idea about this little tasty treat! This is a huge day for donut shops all over Pennsylvania. Basically they're a donut for us to enjoy on the day before Lent begins. It's a "heavy" donut and a potato yeast is used to make this donut for anyone who wants to indulge in this tasty tradition! It's a donut some with a hole, and some no hole, and just plain delicious! I will tell you this, almost every single school and every single office building will have Fastnachts in their lunchrooms today in Pennsylvania.
