Ocean County beaches will remain open for the month of September and lifeguards will be at the beach on weekends.

Lifeguards will be on duty at Island Beach State Park from 10 am - 6 pm Friday through Sunday, according to the patch.com. Lifeguards will be guarding Area 1 and Area 2 at Island Beach. The Southern Swim area will be closed.

So many of our beaches remain open with lifeguards because of the coronavirus pandemic. Local summer is our time at the beach. This extended beach time is something us here at the Jersey Shore want and need. Yes, traditionally summer ends Labor Day. There are still beautiful days left in September and October. Why not enjoy the beach?

With the beaches in Ocean County remaining open, the Ocean County Health Department warns everyone of these things:

**Please keep 6 feet apart from others.

**Please don't share any food and always wash your hands or sanitize, often.

**Please wear your face covering when walking on the beach, going to restrooms, and buying food. And anywhere there might be a line of people, where social distancing might not be an option. CLICK here for the Ocean County Health Department.

Several Ocean County beaches will have lifeguards throughout September to continue summer, the best way we know how to enjoy the warm weather. When it comes to September and October, it's the best time to walk on the boardwalk.

This summer was challenging for many because of the coronavirus pandemic. I felt safe when I went to the beach and boardwalk this summer. Great job to everyone for keeping the Jersey Shore safe.
