My wallet was so stuffed, I couldn't even close it.  It was loaded with lots of receipts, expired coupons, and cards I hardly ever use.

I just did an intervention on myself.  My big overstuffed red wallet got replaced with a slimmer purple one.  It’s smaller size forced me to downsize.  I purged the old, outdated, hardly used items, and will only carry around that which I need.  A good wallet cleanout summary is offered in this clip from NBC’s The Today Show.

It’s not that I don’t value or respect money.  I’ve always prided myself on being financially responsible.  I’m a smart shopper and a good saver and pay off my credit card bills each month.  Why then, is my wallet a disaster area?

It probably has something to do with the fast pace at which I live my life.  Rushing from one store to another, stuffing the receipts inside along with the bills.  Or just shoving the bills and coins anywhere they will fit so I don’t hold up the line at the register.

How do you manage to keep your wallet organized?  Do you clean it out on a regular basis?  Any tips or secrets to keep it neat?
