Investigators putting together clues after skeleton is found in Jackson
Information has only begun to be released after a District Fire Warden with the State Forest Fire Service found a skeleton within the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management area while assisting with a controlled burn Monday afternoon around 2:02 pm.
Jackson Police arrived to South Stump Tavern Road to secure the area around where the skeleton was found and they were joined by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Major Crimes Unit, Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI and New Jersey State Police who are collectively investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the remains.
A positive identification of the remains has yet to be made, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office who adds that there is nothing to indicate that the finding of the remains presents any danger to residents.
The Ocean County Medical Examiner will conduct an Autopsy to determine the identity and find the cause and manner of death.
