Improper turn causes three car crash in Spring Lake Heights
There were no injuries reported from a three-car crash on State Highway 71 and Warren Avenue in Spring Lake Heights Tuesday afternoon around 4:25 pm.
Spring Lake Heights Police say a 2017 white Ford Mustang made an improper turn while heading north on Highway 71 and was thinking about making a turn onto Warren Avenue when he allegedly left the lane of travel and hit a black Lexus RX which hit a gray Nissan Frontier.
The other two cars were left facing west on Warren Ave in the "turn only" lane to turn left onto Hwy 71 south.
Everyone in the 3 cars were already out on the street when police arrived and they declined medical treatment.
Hardiman later sought medical treatment afterwards, police say.
The 2016 Lexus RX driven by Kathleen Hardiman, 53, of Spring Lake Heights sustained some damage. Police say she was wearing her seat-belt.
The 2008 gray Nissan Frontier operated by Frank Vario 74, of Manasquan also sustained some damage. Vario did have his seat-belt on as well.
The driver of the Mustang, Christopher Olivares-Aguilar 19, of Neptune was wearing a seat-belt when his airbags deployed but he was given summonses for Careless Driving and being an Unlicensed Driver.
His car and the Lexus suffered heavy damage and needed to be towed.
The Nissan sustained minor damage.
Clean up and the ensuring investigation delayed traffic for about 45 minutes.
