‘If There is a Need We Will Feed’ Back for Christmas
The people at “If There is a Need We Will Feed” are at it again. After helping feed hundreds a hot meal for Thanksgiving their all-volunteer group has now turned their attention to Christmas.
They will prepare and package over 800 meals on Christmas morning that will either be picked up by groups or delivered in some cases. Many will go to organizations that help care for veterans in need as well as the homeless. This holiday effort got a big boost from Stop & Shop Supermarket who partnered with Gold Medal Bakery, Coke and Frito Lay to supply the turkeys, hams, rolls, drinks and bags of chips needed to make up the meals.
While they have all the food they could use some help in the form of volunteers to cook turkey. Yes, you heard me correct. They are actually holding a “pick up turkey day” today from noon to 5pm during which they will give volunteers a frozen turkey, ask them to safely defrost, cook it on December 24th, refrigerate and then deliver it to Café Italia in Toms River on Christmas morning at 9am. To volunteer for that cooking assignment call Cliff Baker at (732) 814-2064.
While feeding is the priority, hence the name “If There is a Need We Will Feed” they also want to help put smiles on the face of children who might not get all that much for Christmas. They are in need of gifts or gift cards for those between the ages of 13-18 who often get left out because the focus is on younger children.
Donations of gift cards to Wawa, Target even to local movie theaters would be greatly appreciated and will be accepted through December 20th and can be dropped off at The Flower Bar on Chambersbridge Road, Brick or the office of Personal Wealth Strategies on Washington Street in Toms River. You can also bring gifts or gift cards to Café Italia on Christmas morning and they will be given out during the day.
