Ronald Tremblay died at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood after the car in which he was riding careened off Alexander Avenue and into a batch of trees at about 10:06 PM, according to township police.

Authorities say Joseph Gonsalves, 20, also of Howell, was behind the wheel. He survived, along with Brandon Roselli, 21, of Manalapan.

Gonsalves was eastbound and attempting to take a left curve when the car veered off the pavement and trapped all three inside after the impact, police said.

Tremblay was in the rear seat, wearing no restraints, and sustained severe head trauma, police said. Roselli and Gonsalves suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at Kimball.

No summonses or charges have been issued, police said, but witnesses are being asked to contact Patrolman Matthew Cherney, 732-938-4111.

The crash drew members of the Howell First Aid squad, the Southard Fire Department, Monmouth County SCART, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
