How Will Hurricane Ernesto Affect Our Weather In New Jersey?
It's hurricane season and so far it's been a very active early start to the season. The latest hurricane is "Ernesto" and as it makes its way through the Caribbean forecasters are telling folks in the Garden State to keep an eye on the storm's track and how it may affect us here in New Jersey.
According to Patch, "Beachgoers should keep their eyes on the forecast in the coming days as Hurricane Ernesto is expected to bring strong rip currents and high waves to the Jersey Shore this weekend. Heavy rainfall is also expected in some parts of the state, according to forecasters."
Follow your lifeguard's instructions and watch for rough surf this weekend. Do Not swim if lifeguards are not on duty. Here is a look at the weekend forecast for South Jersey according to Patch:
- Friday: Sunny, with a high near 82
- Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69
- Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80
- Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82
Hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean runs from June 1st through November 30th. So far this has been an active season. Keep an eye on the forecast as Hurricane Ernesto will pass to the east of New Jersey, but will stir up waters along Jersey Shore beaches. Lifeguards will keep the public up to date on conditions.
