Homicide Investigation Unfolds in Lakewood

The death of a 51-year-old Lakewood woman whose body was found this morning is being pursued by township police as a homicide.

Details are still being gathered, but the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has been called in to assist in the probe.

Authorities have not officially issued the identity.

According to county Prosecutor spokesman Al Della Fave, Lakewood officers discovered the victim in a home on Sumac Court around 8 AM today. They were notified by concerned co-workers at a nearby CVS who noted that she hadn't arrived for her job.

Sources close to the case did not elaborate on possible reasons that murder is suspected.
