Here’s your chance to golf & help those battling a rare disease at the Jersey Shore
Most of us are novice golfers at best, but no matter how good or not so good you are on the course, your swing can still help children and teens battling a rare disease at the Jersey Shore.
The effort is spearheaded by Allie and Jonna Crocker and their 'Fighting H.A.R.D. (Having A Rare Disease) Foundation which raises money and support for those battling a rare disease while offering kindness, compassion and friendship to those in that fight as well as their families.
They've held various fundraisers over the years and need your help to continue their mission.
A golf fundraiser coming up in August doesn't necessarily require your golf swing, although it is encouraged, because it's fun.
They are also looking for sponsors and volunteers to help with the event.
The fundraiser takes place on August 10 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Colts Neck.
If you can't make it out but still want to contribute, you can donate to their mission on a new website the foundation has set up.
Here is a previously submitted letter by Allie Crocker to Townsquare Media News regarding the upcoming event.
Hello!
My name is Alexandra Crocker, and I am a current senior at Howell High School.
My sister Jonna and I are the founders of Fighting H.A.R.D. Foundation, a nonprofit organization started in 2015 with the mission of helping kids with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to not feel alone.
We have both faced the struggles of having rare diseases and created the foundation to help kids just like us.
We are excited to let you know that we will be holding our first golf outing this year to raise much-needed awareness for these diseases and to bring the community together in a safe way to enjoy the day on the golf course!
Fighting H.A.R.D. Golf Outing “FORE” the Kids Tuesday, August 10, 2021 Pebble Creek Golf Club Colts Neck, NJ
We support children and families impacted by rare diseases primarily right here in Monmouth and Ocean counties in central New Jersey.
While we do send care packages across the country, we focus on providing consistent emotional and financial support and resources to over 30 families locally.
We work to accomplish our mission by not only raising awareness and sending care packages, but also holding regular support group meetings for Fighting H.A.R.D. kids and “rarents”, covering expenses for families who need to travel across the country for specialized care, sending a family’s favorite dinner after a long day of treatment or an extended hospital stay, purchasing medical necessities not covered by insurance, and hosting get-togethers (now virtual due to the pandemic) where our rare kiddos can connect with one another and have a day of laughter and fun with others who “get it”.
Seeing the smile on a child’s face when they open a care package created especially for them, or when they get home and realize that there is dinner from their favorite restaurant waiting for them, is the most valuable thing to us at Fighting H.A.R.D! With your help, we can continue to help our real-life superheroes.
Please consider making a donation or sponsoring our golf outing to help us help kids with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to not feel alone. 100% of all funds raised go directly toward our mission.
Together, we can help these kids to know that they are never alone!
Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely and Gratefully,
Alexandra and Jonna Crocker
