Several LBI PD's dedicating NSN funds to Manahawkin non-profit

This #NoShaveNovember the Harvey Cedars Police Department along with several others along LBI will be throwing down the razors for a month and more importantly raising funds and awareness for David's Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation, which is located in Stafford Township.

Harvey Cedars Police have partnered with the Ocean County non-profit in previous years as well to help David Caldarella and the organization bring awareness to various cancers and help with funding for cancer prevention, education and research.

In 2021, HCPD renews that effort.

"Each Officer voluntarily went through the entire month without shaving hoping to raise funds and awareness for those impacted by a cancer diagnosis. We again this year have partnered with “David’s Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation” to raise awareness and funding for cancer prevention, education and research," Harvey Cedars Police Chief Robert Burnaford said in a statement provided to Townsquare Media News.

Harvey Cedars Police this year will be joined in helping raise funds for DDBCF by the Beach Haven Police Department, Ship Bottom Police Department, Surf City Police Department, Long Beach Township Police Department as well as a number of other local businesses in the LBI area.

It'll be a friendly competition of sorts, as throughout the month of November, Chief Burnaford said that "each “team” will raise awareness and funds, by growing facial hair, that will 100% be donated to DDBCF."

David Caldarella began this non-profit after overcoming his battle with squamous cell carcinoma in 2010 and the outpouring of support and assistance for him in his fight.

He wanted to then help others through their battles with cancer and their families.

"We set out with a goal of maybe helping one or two families a year and what's transpired over the past ten years is nothing short of exceptional and genuine," Caldarella told Townsquare Media News in November 2020. "We've now helped over 1,800 families and counting now and over $1.6-million has been raised for these families so that they get a little bit of help with rent and their mortgage and utilities and medical bills and groceries and gas to get to treatments."
