Each week for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, Shore Sports Network will recognize some of the top performers in Shore Conference girls basketball and give the SSN readers a chance to pick the best of the best.

All nominees were submitted by their head coaches and any future nominees should be submitted by coaches, via email to kevin.williams@townsquaremedia.com and/or matthew.manley@townsquaremedia.com by Sunday night.

Read about this week's nominees and vote for the one that strikes you as the best pick for overall Player of the Week. The top vote-getter will receive a $25 gift card to the Jersey Mike's.

Girls Basketball Week 7 Player of the Week Nominees

Maggie Cavanaugh, St. Rose

Cavanaugh was steady during divisional play, then turned in a strong all-around performance vs. state-ranked Ewing in which she posted 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Grace Colucci, Rumson-Fair Haven

Colucci averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.25 assists and 1.75 steals during a 3-1 week for her team, highlighted by a 20-point performance with five three-pointers in a Rumson win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Amaya Evans, Neptune

Last week, Evans averaged 20.3 points and 4.7 steals for Neptune during a 2-1 week for the team and also reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career in a win over Freehold Boro.

Lizzie Gillen, Toms River East

Gillen churned out two more double-doubles last week and just missed a third. The senior went for 15 points and nine rebounds in a win over Toms River South, put up 13 and 12 in a win over Central and logged 18 and 11 vs. Middle Township.

Lauren McCahon, Henry Hudson

McCahon was solid across the board for the Admirals last week, averaging 10 points, six rebounds and five assists and scoring 14 points in a Senior Night win over Asbury Park.

Cara McCoy, Barnegat

McCoy has been a junior leader for the Bengals all year and her impact showed up on the stat sheet last week with 23 points against Manchester after scoring 16 in a win over Toms River South.

Kiera McKown, Howell

Howell’s standout freshman had a big all-around week, leading a Rebels rout of Manalapan with 12 points and 19 rebounds, then putting up seven points, 13 boards and six blocks in a loss to Marlboro.

Devyn Quigley, Manchester

Quigley had a monster statistical week, averaging 26.25 points, 7.25 rebounds, 5.75 assists and 4.5 steals across four games – all Manchester wins. She poured in 33 points against Barnegat, flirted with a triple-double (29-8-7) against Brick, and led a tight win over Ocean City with 25 points, six rebounds, eight assists and six steals.

Gabriella Ross, Donovan Catholic

The Griffins junior standout averaged 23 points over three games, including a 36-point outburst against NYC power Long Island Lutheran.

Joei Tarazzi, Raritan

Raritan stared down quality competition this week and Tarazzi was up to the task, scoring 16 points against Shore and putting up 15 points, four rebounds and five assists against Trinity Hall.

Sophie Tonino, Freehold Twp.

The Patriots had a perfect week last week, buoyed by three strong performances by Tonino. She scored 13 points vs. Manalapan, poured in 24 in a win over Long Branch and helped spearhead an overtime win over Burlington Twp. with 16 points.
