Little is expected to be appointed during the Board’s first meeting of 2012, on January 4th at 3:30PM in Room 119 of the Ocean County Administration Building. The Board is also announcing that Freeholder John Bartlett is expected to be the Deputy Director, the position previously held by Little in 2011.

Little has been on the Board of Freeholders since 2003 and has already had the position of Freeholder Director once in 2006. However, he notes that during his first tenure as Director the economy was much stronger. He expects the one of the main goals of the 2012 year will be to maintain services while not giving taxpayers any surprises in the budget.

“We will do our absolute utmost to make sure that Ocean County remains affordable in terms of the government services we provide as county government”

He notes that the County has downsized in reaction to the sour economy, cutting 200 employees.

“Over the past several years, we’ve cut some various programs and services but we’ve maintained our core services and our core responsibilities, we’ve frozen all new programs and services.”

Little notes that though he will be the Director, the Board’s strength lies in their ability to work together to help the residents of Ocean County.

“I hope to continue that and to do the best I can to continue that and maintain that level of collegiate we have on the board of freeholders.”
