Of the 8 New Jerseyans competing in Rio this month, 2 of the Paralympians are from Monmouth County.  Today, I'll share some information about Robert Griswold who has Cerebral Palsy.  He's a 19 year old swimmer who found comfort in and discovered his talent for swimming at the Ocean County Y.  Though on land he walks with a limp, his upper arm strength and skill in the water made him a world-record holder in competitve swimming.

He was captain and MVP of his swim team while at Freehold Township High School and currently swims for his college team at Carson-Newman University.

While in Rio for the Paralympic Games, Griswold will be competing in the 400m Free on Sept. 8th, the 100m Back on Sept. 13th, and the 200m IM on Sept. 17th.

TV coverage starts on Wednesday with the Opening Ceremonies.

I'll write about another hometown Paralympian later this week.
