The charges stem from the May 16 2014, incident where Villatoro-Reyes called 911 around 2:15 am and told dispatch he killed 30-year old Lucenay Fermin Gallegos at their apartment in the Borough, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.

Freehold Borough police officers responded to the apartment on 51 Hudson Street that night and found Gallegoes deceased on the couch.

According to the autopsy report she died from "asphyxia due to manual strangulation," and officials also learned Gallegos was five months pregnant at the time.

Villatoro-Reyes admitted that it was during an argument where he strangled his girlfriend, and following a plea agreement the state seeks a 28-year prison sentence.

He was originally indicted by a Grand Jury of March 23, 2015 for one count of murder.

Reyes is scheduled for sentencing on April 21, 2017.

He's being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $1,000,000 bail with no 10% option.
