Quite a time for the Frazier’s, Toms River’s first family of baseball.  12-year-old Carson and his Toms River East teammates begin play tonight (weather permitting) in the New Jersey State Little League Tournament in Cherry Hill.  The 13 players, two coaches and manager Paul Mika have been dominant in winning the District 18 and Section 3 tournaments and join Hillsdale, Teaneck Southern and Haddonfield in pursuit of the state title and a spot in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Bristol, Connecticut.

Toms River East takes on Hillsdale Little League tonight at 6pm and will play Friday in either the winners or losers bracket.  The team from Windsor Avenue is loaded with talent including Joey DiMeo, Cole Garrison, Jason Verderosa and Steven Malato. Many are aware that Carson Frazier’s father Charlie was a member of the 1995 East team that advanced all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile Carson’s uncle and Charlie’s younger brother Todd Frazier will 12 hours after the little leaguers take the field be getting ready to make his Olympic debut with Team USA in Tokyo.  Their game against Israel begins at 6am our time Friday morning and is only available live on nbcolympics.com and the NBC Sports app.  The Americans game against South Korea Saturday also starts at 6am but can be viewed on the USA Network.  If you want to write the perfect ending to a story the US would face Japan in the gold medal game on August 7th, 23 years after Todd and his Toms River East American squad beat a Japanese team in the finals of the Little League World Series.
