A Franklinville woman is facing charges for careless driving for allegedly causing a five-car crash on Route 72 in Stafford Township on Monday morning around 10:15 am.

Alyssa Kelly, 25, was heading eastbound in a Mazda SUV over the causeway bridge near milepost 28 when she struck a Lexus SUV in the rear while it was stopped causing it to hit another car along with two others.

Dennis Long, 48, of Emerson who drove the Lexus SUV and his wife who was the passenger sustained undisclosed injuries and transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center along with Alyssa Kelly.

The third vehicle in the collision was a Honda SUV driven by Jeffrey Pane, 41, of Hillsborough who was unharmed as was the driver of the fourth vehicle in the collision Nancy Defarrari, 55, of Lanoka Harbor who drove a Ford SUV and the drive of a Toyota Sedan driven by Randy Abramson, 45, of Silver Spring, Maryland.

After the dust settled three of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Traffic on Route 72 also had to be redirected around the scene for approximately an hour after the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Stafford Police who were assisted on scene by the Ship Bottom Police Department, Long Beach Township Police Department, Stafford Township Volunteer EMS and Ship Bottom EMS.
