Police in Monmouth County are looking for two men who tried breaking into a Holmdel residence Monday night before taking off and leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.

Holmdel Township Police Officers responded to a report of an attempted burglary on Hastings Road around 8:28pm after the homeowner said two black males attempted to force entry through the front door of the residence.

The homeowner told police they then turned on an exterior light and both men fled on foot.

Responding officers were on Hastings Road within minutes and began a search of the area.

Police K-9 units from both Red Bank and Matawan Police Departments also responded.

A short time later, a Middletown Police Officer attempted to stop a dark colored Chevrolet sedan with New Jersey plates.

Police say the vehicle was occupied by 3 black males.

The vehicle did not stop and was pursed by the patrol officer onto the Garden State Parkway in the southbound lanes.

The pursuit was terminated due to the high rate of speed.

The suspects’ vehicle is a 2018 black Chevrolet Malibu with New Jersey plates.

Anyone who has any information regarding this incident or the suspects vehicle is asked to contact Holmdel Police Detective Sergeant Ed Martinez at 732-946-4400.
