Forked River teen injured after car strikes utility pole
A Forked River teenager is injured after striking a utility police in a single-car crash on New Hampshire Avenue near North Maple Avenue on Monday night in Toms River around 6:15 pm.
Toms River Police say the 17-year old suffered several non-life threatening in injuries in the collision and was taken to Community Medical Center by Lakewood EMS.
Verizon utility crews were on scene replacing the pole and New Hampshire Ave was shut down for several hours causing a traffic backup during rush hour.
Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Mark Nater is investigating the cause of the collision.
The 17-year old behind the wheel was charged with careless driving.
