The easements are needed to allow the Army Corps of Engineers to build a $40 million dollar steel wall from the borough to Brick Township in mid-November. According to the Asbury Park Press, officials are reportedly consulting with the state on whether or not to proceed with eminent domain.

The borough has signed easement agreements from 125 oceanfront property owners. Plans were discussed last night at a special council meeting held at the Mantoloking Yacht Club. The borough lost hundreds of homes to Superstorm Sandy.
