Fake hostage call in Jackson spurs police investigation
An apparent swatting incident in Jackson Township draws scrutiny and concern of police investigators.
Officers were dispatched to a Tilford Street house on April 4, at about 8:06 PM, after a caller from "an unknown number," claiming to be inside, reported an individual armed with a rifle and pipe bombs, with four hostages.
After blocking traffic, evacuating neighbors and surrounding the house, officers communicated with an individual inside, who eventually emerged and allowed them to search the dwelling. They determined that everyone was safe and that the report was unfounded.
Anyone who is familiar with the incident, and circumstances surrounding it, should call Police Detective Keith Hood, 732-928-1111.
