Thanks to the green light from the Board of Freeholders, one Parkway exit will be a full exchange.

Exit 83 in Toms River is very convenient, but also a bit of a head scratcher as it stands now. You can access the northbound and southbound area of the GSP in about the same vicinity, and you can take exit 83 if you're traveling northbound.  The only missing piece of the puzzle is an exit 83 for southbound travelers...for now.

The plan is to have exit 83 south put you on Indian Hill Road or Route 571 after a traffic light. You would be able to make a left or right turn onto Indian Hill. However, If you want to make a Route 9 North at Route 571, you'll have to use Lomell Lane instead.

According to Ocean County Administrator Carl Block's conversation with the APP, the first step of this project is to get a traffic consultant to begin working with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, owners of the Parkway.

It's important to note that exit 83 southbound is in the very beginning stages and while no official timeline has been laid out, it's likely based on other Parkway projects that the opening of this exit could be years off.
