The estranged wife of Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer Manuel Seal is being charged with Theft by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said that an investigation by the OCPO Economic Crimes Unit learned that Erin Seal, 35, of Lindenwold, New Jersey, ran a scheme where the music royalty checks made payable to her estranged husband, Manuel Seal Jr., 60, who used to live in Toms River, would be forwarded directly to her and for her benefit.

She then used a family member to cash those checks claiming that she was lawfully entitled to them and relied upon fake emails purportedly sent by the victim to the defendant to support her criminal scheme.

Between May 2018 and April 2020, she fraudulently received approximately $100,000.

On Wednesday Erin Seal, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered herself to Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Unit.

She was processed and released on a summons pending a future court date.

Manuel Seal Jr. has worked with a number of big time artists including Mariah Carey, Usher, Alicia Keys, Michael Bolton, Angie Stone and Xscape over the years and produced massive hits.

He is behind 20 number one Billboard pop singles as well as several top 10 and top 40 hits, according to Universal Music Publishing Group.
