Seaside Heights is really building up!  I’m not talking about the funding to expand the boardwalk or refurbish buildings, I’m talking about the kind of creations that will draw crowds to marvel at them but be gone by the first rain.

Of course, I'm talking about over-the-top amazing sand sculpting.  This is a very "live in the moment" art form because if mother nature wants to show off, that art is just a memory.  Thankfully, the weather looks stellar for today and tonight, so you'll be able to see fabulous creations from these six sand artists and you'll be able to vote for the winner before the ceremony tonight!

Yes, if you haven't heard, it is that time of year when international award-winning sculptors grace our beaches to share their art with us as we look on in amazement.

This is not just a random act of creativity, it is a serious contest where sand sculptors go head to head in Seaside Heights for bragging rights and big cash prizes. If you want to see them in action this week, you can find the artists doing their thing next to the Carousel Pavilion, on Sampson Avenue.

There is an additional 10 tons of sand brought in for the sculptors to use but clearly, their imaginations are limitless.

You have a big role in all this too…you can vote for your favorite but make it quick, the award ceremony (which is open to the public) is happening tonight.

Don’t be late the ceremony starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. tonight, it is such a fun family event!

Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz commented,

We have wanted to bring a sand sculpting competition to Seaside Heights for a long time, and it’s finally here.  The talent of these sculptors is incredible. Our hope is that it becomes an annual event with the number of competitors growing each year.  You can read more about the competitors here, some coming from as far away as Hawaii.
