Every week this wrestling season, Shore Conference fans will have the chance to vote for the Elite Sports Physical Therapy Wrestler of the Week on our website and decide which local standout should earn the weekly honor.

The winner of the Week 8 (Feb. 7 to Feb. 13) Wrestler of the Week poll is Raritan junior Bobby Mulligan, who played a major role in Raritan's run to the program's second state championship.

The Rockets' junior 165-pounder was 4-1 during the week as Raritan wrestled its way to the NJSIAA Group 2 state title, the program's second state championship and first since 2010. Mulligan won by fall in three of his victories, none more memorable than his match-clinching pin in the state final that secured the Rockets' eventual 37-27 win over postseason nemesis High Point. Even his lone loss was productive as he held Rumson-Fair Haven standout Ryan Boyer to a decision during the Central Jersey Group 2 sectional final.

The success continued into the individual postseason for Mulligan and the Rockets. Mulligan finished second at 165 pounds at the District 20 Tournament with Raritan finishing second in the team standings.

Mulligan was seeded 15th for the NJSIAA Region 5 Tournament and will face St. John Vianney's Thomas Cleary in the pre-quarterfinals where the winner moves on and the loser is eliminated.

The Raritan wrestling faithful had a huge turnout at the state finals and also during the voting period as Mulligan won the Wrestler of the Week with 75.5 percent of the votes.
