Authorities are investigating a horrific accident on Route 33 in East Windsor, New Jersey. According to reports, East Windsor Police responded to a call Sunday night of an accident on Route 33 westbound at the intersection with Twin Rivers Drive North.

Police said two pedestrians had crossed the eastbound lanes of Route 33 and were trying to cross the westbound side when the crash occurred.

 

 

According to a Patch report, "According to preliminary investigation, Fausto Chacha-Pintado, 45, and Elena Mateo, 50, both of East Windsor, were crossing Route 33 when they were struck by Liana Abbate, 30, driving westbound under a green traffic signal."

 

 

 

 

Fausto Chacha-Pintado was killed, and Elena Mateo was injured. The investigation into the collision is underway.

 

Mateo was airlifted by New Jersey State Police to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.
