Driver inexperience may have been what caused three-car collision in Manchester

Driver inexperience and ignoring a stop sign appear to be the two key factors that led to a three-car collision in Manchester on Wednesday afternoon.

Manchester Police said the 17-year old driver of a Lincoln MKZ was heading south on Bismarck Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign and then collided with the passenger side of a Nissan Sentra crossing Commonwealth Boulevard.

The Nissan then overturned as a result, rolling back down Bismarck Street and hitting a speed limit sign which led to the car crashing into the windshield of an unoccupied parked Toyota Corolla before coming onto its side about three times over and about 200 feet from the initial collision.

The driver of the Lincoln, who crashed into a utility pole, sustained some cuts and bruises to his face and arms.

Jocelyn Isaza, 42, Toms River who was the driver of the Nissan suffered a concussion as well as fractured hands and fingers.

Police said everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center via ambulance.

The investigation is still ongoing, but at this point police believe driver error and inexperience appear to be the primary cause of the crash.

This crash is being investigated by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
