Driver gets trapped inside vehicle following crash in Wall

A scary crash on Monday morning avoided tragedy after the driver of a Ford Explorer, who was crushed by a dump truck filled with sand on Route 138 in Wall Township, comes away with minor injuries.

Wall Police say the 33-year old Trenton driver of a 2000 Peterbilt dump truck was heading eastbound near Allenwood Road when the a vehicle in front of him stopped for a traffic signal.

He then tried to stop himself but swerved into the right lane traveling through the intersection and collided with a 2008 Ford Explorer being operated by a 47 year old Wall Township woman.

The dump truck struck the passenger side of the Ford Explorer causing the dump truck to overturn on top of the Ford Explorer, entrapping the driver of the Ford Explorer inside her vehicle.

When the dump truck was overturned, it released approximately 25-gallons of oil onto the road as well as sand and gunite.

The oil spill was contained and cleaned up by the NJDEP and Monmouth County Hazmat.

The driver of the dump truck was able to exit safely without any injuries.

The driver of the Explorer was safely removed from the vehicle and transported to JSUMC with non-life threatening injuries.
