DOT Tractor rider hit by car while cutting the grass in Marlboro

A New Jersey Department of Transportation worker is recovering from minor injuries after the tractor he was using to cut the grass on the Route 18 median in Marlboro was hit by a car on Monday afternoon.

Marlboro Police said that a Chevy Trailblazer driven by 28-year old Eric Hopkins of Newark was heading along Route 18 North near Wyncrest Road when he struck the tractor being operated by 58-year old Robert Taylor of South Amboy.

Both men were brought to RWJ University Hospital where Hopkins was treated for a broken leg.

The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time but police don't believe drugs and/or alcohol are a contributing factor.
