According to a Patch article, "Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle in Trenton are looking to give commuters an income tax write-off for the E-ZPass tolls they pay on New Jersey highways."

I have an E-Z Pass account. It's easy and saves time I never carry "cash" these days, so it is perfect for me. Not everyone wants another account to manage and I get that, but if there was a tax deduction, would you move to using E-Z Pass? "Legislators in the Senate and Assembly are proposing up to $1,000 in state income tax deductions for those who use E-ZPass accounts on New Jersey toll roads."

I also like E-Z Pass because it is good when traveling in several states. According to World Population Review, "The 17 states that use E-ZPass are: Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia."

In addition, the Patch article mentioned other legislative proposals including, "Another bill would waive E-ZPass tolls for vehicles used by businesses that are owned by a disabled veteran."
