A crew in a 29-foot response boat left USCG Station Sandy Hook, and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew took off from Station Atlantic City after the report filed around 8 AM by Monmouth County authorities, Guard officials said.

The Coast Guard also issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to all mariners in the Keyport Harbor vicinity.

The 14-footer was discovered with no one aboard, taking on water near the shoreline. Anyone who is familiar with it, and related circumstances, is urged to call USCG Sector New York, 718-354-4353.

USCG officials recommend filing a float plan, which is as simple as telling your destination and time frame to someone who would report to authorities in the event of an emergency. Find out more about it here.
