One of the biggest events on Long Beach Island marks a milestone this year. The 25th Anniversary of Chowderfest kicks off on Saturday, October 5th.

theme, Chowderfest XXV, It Is Our 25th Season of Champions. It's a sort of an omage to the Superbowl coming to New Jersey. So it's going to be a fun event."

However, it's a serious event as well, for well over a dozen area restaurants who'll be competing for votes to earn the recognition of having 'the best chowder of 2013' as festival goers sip on unlimited amounts of red and white chowder during the Chowder Cook-off Classic on Sunday, October 6th in Beach Haven.

"The restaurants put a lot of energy into the booths. They put a lot of energy into the theme, a lot of energy into their product and they're there motivating, looking for votes, because every ticket holder gets a vote, explains Pepenella."

The Festival begins on Saturday October 5th with a free Merchant Mart. The Chowder Cook-off Classic is a ticketed event that takes place at the Taylor Avenue Ball Field in Beach Haven.
