What started out as a scary moment in time for grade school students in Monmouth County ended with a slice of pizza, a way of taking their mind off an accident that occurred  on Monday afternoon.

A school bus carrying 16 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade  and a Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed on Millstone Road at Sweetman Lane in Millstone around 1:40 pm which brought down a utility pole and a transformer on top of the bus.

The Millstone Fire Department said that the children from the Millstone Elementary and Millstone Primary schools were evaluated but only the driver was hospitalized and Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation by New Jersey State Police.

Millstone schools dismissed class early in anticipation of Monday’s storm.

Millstone Superintendent Christopher Huss credits the bus driver for "her actions that really prevented the accident from being worse than it was."
She was able to get the bus out of the way of the utility pole so it caused less damage to bus and kids.
While police were responding and investigating the accident that took place in front of Vesuvio's Pizza and the owner of the pizzeria on Millstone Road invited all the kids into his restaurant and made them some pizza.
Detectives came to look over kids and while the pizza owner kept them calm.
