Kiting is a term used for depositing checks with no supporting funds, then withdrawing cash before verifications are complete.

Arrestees are Bonita White, 47, and Shane McDonald, 51, Seaside Heights; Marylee Jordan, 27, Shavon D. Brown, 30, and Qawi M. Brown, 26, of Toms River; and Isaac T. Brown, Jr., 25, of Barnegat.

According to information from the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato, TD Bank officials triggered the investigations by reporting suspicious discrepancies in Feburary 2015.

Members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) collaborated with Toms River, Seaside Heights and Barnegat police in the probe that led to arrests at each suspect's dwelling, at about 5:30 AM on March 20.

All six were brought to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River to await initial court appearances.
