The incident reportedly took place earlier this week on the Berkeley Township campus. Schools Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides confirmed it to Berkeley Patch, adding that the teacher was given medical treatment and has suffered no extended effects.

Ingestion of saline solution can result in symptoms as minor as indigestion or as significant as vomiting, breathing difficulties or comas.

The student reportedly placed several drops of the solution in the iced coffee while the teacher left the room. The teen awaits a family court hearing.
