Marlboro Police say Route 520 is "more than than likely going to be closed for a good part of the day" following a motor vehicle accident around 8:49 am Sunday morning near Ginesi Drive.

Police say a 2011 Honda Pilot left the roadway and struck a utility pole causing the pole to come down across the highway and back onto the vehicle.

The driver was the only one inside the vehicle and they were transported by Morganville First Aid Squad to Robert Wood Johnson University located in New Brunswick for medical evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

However, as a result of the accident Monmouth County Route 520 is closed between Tennent Road and US Highway 9 while utility repairs are being made.

Police are asking drivers to plan an alternate route today due to the road closure as the repairs will be ongoing and are expected to last several hours.

Additional responding agencies assisting with the accident were the Robertsville Fire Department and Fire Police, Paramedics from MONOC and the Monmouth County HAZMAT response team.

Cpl. David Ruditsky of the Marlboro Township Police Traffic and Safety Bureau is the investigating officer of the accident.

Anyone with additional information concerning the motor vehicle accident is asked to contact him at (732) 536-0100 extension 1090 or email at
