One of southern Ocean County's most famous eatery has announced that they will be closing down operations to ensure their employees' safety and patrons due to multiple confirmed Coronavirus cases.

Caffery's Backyard, on the same lot of Caffery's Tavern that is being rebuilt after a fire last year, took to social media to explain their decision to close the restaurant on Thursday morning.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close operations for the next couple of days," they said without providing an exact reopening date.

"On Monday evening -- 7/20 -- we received word that two employees tested positive," they later said in the comments section. The restaurant did not go on to say what positions those employees worked and when they were working last.

The restaurant goes onto cite the reasoning for closing their doors as being related to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ocean County, "the decision was made to ensure the safety of our staff and customers," the post said.

Until Caffreys further explained their reasoning for closing down, people began to get nervous and commented on their concerns.

People in the comments section of the post were concerned because some of them bought take out food and have compromised immune systems like Andy, "I'd like to know being I ordered takeout from there and have a compromise[sic] immune system."

Another commenter, named Anita, said that she is concerned that there was a definite case at the restaurant, "please mention if there was a positive case so people who were there can take appropriate action."

"We have utilized the services of a COVID specialist company to sanitize and disinfect all work and customer contact surface areas," the social media post concluded without listing the agency they contacted.
