Chad Andresen, 18, of Beachwood, remains at large in the aftermath of the drunken melee that police said erupted near the river on Haines Avenue by Cedar Drive.

John Shevlino, 18, also of Beachwood, was arrested a short distance from the spot as both ran to avoid police, according to authorities.

Andresen is accused of sucker-punching a Toms River 18-year-old from behind, knocking him to the sidewalk, leaving him with a neck injury when his head bounced off the cement.

Shevlino is accused of punching the injured teen's 38-year-old mother when she tried to intervene, throwing her to the ground, kicking her in the face, and leaving her with a broken jaw, lacerations, and briefly knocking her out.

Police said they were all part of a group that had spent much of Thursday drinking in Bayville, which moved to Toms River by 11:30 PM and continued the alcohol binge. The fight broke out around 1 AM, police said.

Shevlino and Andresen allegedly took off when officers arrived, but Shevlino was collared. Both are charged with aggravated assault, with bail set at $2,500.

Anyone knowing of Andresen's whereabouts should call Toms River PD Detective James Carey, 732-349-0150, extension 1292.
