The Keyport Police Department received a report just before 3:30pm of a fire in the area of Highway 35 and Cas Street near the water tower.  Officers say high winds and dry conditions caused the fire to spread very quickly, but no one was injured and no buildings were damaged.

Firefighters from Keyport, Hazlet, Union Beach, Keansburg, Holmdel, Laurence Harbor, Aberdeen and the State Forestry Service assisted in extinguishing the fire and monitoring the area for hotspots.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshall.
