Michael Patrick O'Hare, 29, of Lanoka, is charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident for the incident that left Earl Creveling, 43, hospitalized with internal injuries, according to Brick PD Officer Jason Shepherd.

O'Hare is also wanted to answer a warrant issued in Bloomfield, police said. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River after booking.

Officers responded to Bay Harbor Plaza at about 8:24 AM. Creveling told them that both were driving Old Hooper Avenue when the hostilities escalated, and that they both pulled into the mall's parking lot. Police said that while Creveling was gathering O'Hare's license plate number, O'Hare accelerated his Volvo at him.

Creveling was hit, bounced off the windshield and landed on the pavement, police said, while O'Hare fled north on Brick Boulevard.

Still to be disclosed are the circumstances that led to the argument and the incident.

Brick police extended a note of thanks to those who helped fill in details based on their initial descriptions, and they are asking anyone familiar with the episode to reach them. Patrolman Jay Lampiasi leads the investigation. He can be reached at 732-262-1141.
