Brick Police are looking for a robbery suspect who was thwarted by a homeowner's early return home. Officials say a Tunes Brook Drive resident entered his front door at around 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and heard someone run from the rear of the home. Police say the homeowner then observed a male suspect fleeing out the back rear deck, jump into a nearby lagoon,  swim across the lagoon and  exit onto  Doe Court.

says an extensive search of the area was conducted including a canine unit with negative results. However, investigators did find a pair of red sneakers, worn by the suspect, in the water near the shoreline where he exited.

Rein says the suspect entered the home by forcing open a window in the front of the home that was obscured by bushes. Once inside, the suspect began piling up items that he apparently planned to steal. However, he fled without taking anything when surprised by the resident.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5'10", 20 - 25 yoa, Brown crew cut hair, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Two neighbors reported that a subject matching the description knocked on their doors reportedly looking for a lost pet. It's believed he was canvassing the area to find a home that was unoccupied.

Anyone with information with regard to the subject or the burglary is encouraged to contact Detective Erick Olsen with the Investigative Division at 732-262-1120.
