Body in car in Neptune Township under investigation

A lifeless body in a car in Neptune Township is the subject of a probe by police from the township, neighboring Asbury Park, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

In a terse statement, Prosecutor's Office spokesman Charles Webster said that there are no safety issues connected to the incident, and that the community is safe. Investigators await results of examinations by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner.

Webster did not explain why police of two communities were summoned, or why the ME in neighboring Middlesex was enlisted.

The address nearest to the discovery was given as 611 Asbury Avenue. The Asbury Park Press reported the location to be near a liquor store.
