Big Bargains, Big Birthday in Tiny Ocean Gate

The teeny community of Ocean Gate has immense plans that you don't want to miss..."The World's Largest Yard Sale" and its "96th Anniversary-Ocean Gate Day."

The yard sale of great, big piles of junk and treasure will be taking place on Aug. 2 from 8 AM to 4 PM. There will be free parking and maps for window shoppers and shopaholics.

After your shopping binge, stick around for a performance by "The Teachers Band" on the Wildwood Avenue Pier from 7 PM to 10 PM.

And be sure to return a week later. The huge, fun-filled anniversary celebration will be held on Aug. 9 from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Bring a big appetite for fun and snacks. There will be over 50 craft and food vendors along Wildwood Avenue, a cardboard boat race, a musical showcase of "Girlfriends" from 1 PM to 4 PM, and a live performance by "Bums in the Park" from 7 PM to 10 PM.

The rain date will be Aug. 16.

Ocean Gate may be a small, quiet hideaway, but it's always the quiet ones that know how to have a good time.
